The Mentor

The next character archetype is the mentor. They are known to be the wise old man or woman that help and train the hero. They teach, give gifts, and invents stuff for the hero. Besides this, they also motivate him. Sometimes the mentor may be dark and evil and won't have the best intentions.

Here, Dumbledore shows the qualities of the mentor. He helped Harry Potter in the very beginning by moving him to his relatives for safety from the dark Lord Voldemort. Later on, he helps Harry and gives him advice on the Mirror of Erised. In the end, Dumbledore rewards the Gryffindor house 170 points on behalf of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville's hard work and bravery.
