The Refusal of the Call

Many and most heroes go through this stage, but some don't. The hero may try to refuse the journey because of their fears, insecurities, and doubts. They may want to prefer to stay in the ordinary world where it is well-known to the hero. Willing enough heroes might end up skipping this stage. However, fears and dangers would be revealed by those close to the hero and or the threshold guardians. No matter what, the call will have to accepted for the hero to continue on in their journey.

The refusal of the call also happens twice. The first time is when Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon refuse Harry to read the letter from Hogwarts. This refusal isn't made directly by Harry. The other refusal is made by Harry. Once Hagrid has told Harry about his parents and Hogwarts, he has a moment of doubt, but soon accepts the adventure of going to Hogwarts.
